Our Intentional Gift Guide

Make an impact with your holiday shopping

A few ideas for shopping small and local this season.

Support your local record (or book) store

Add that album to their vinyl collection and support your Main Street Economy by hitting up your local record store, instead of searching on am*zon. Often they can help you track down that hard-to-find record you’re looking for. Or if you want to maximize support to the musician, purchase directly from the artist or label.

Likewise, instead of shopping for a book from an e-commerce giant, check your local bookstore. Usually they’ll have a website that you can order the book to be shipped to your home, or local pickup, even if they don’t have it in stock.

Morning Ritual

Buying quality coffee from roasters who prioritize ethical sourcing models has an impact across the supply chain.

Some of our favorites are Speckled Ax in Maine, Recluse Roasting Project in Virginia, and Origin Coffee Maui

Grounding Body Care

Our skin is our largest organ and our connection to the world around us- and honestly, the cold of winter is hard on it.

The Piñon Tallow Repair Balm from Mother Mountain Herbals is always in our pockets this time of year.

Some of our other favorite apothecary staples are from Cositas Bonitas Botanicals, Dryland Wilds, Three Flowers Soaps, Piney Mountain Herbals, and Bell Mountain Naturals.

Shop stocking stuffers at local artisan markets

A little search on google can help you find holiday markets in your area- or your neighborhood brewery might be hosting a pop-up. Getting out and about at markets builds community, and you can find meaningful and unique gifts from local artists and makers- soaps and knitwear, to hand carved wooden utensils and functional ceramics.

DIY

Mix your own herbal tea blends for a thoughtful but inexpensive gift for family. (If you don’t have a local herb shop or garden, PNW-based Mountain Rose Herbs has a wide selection and user-friendly ordering.)

A few ideas:

Bright and Floral - Rosehips and hibiscus

Warm and Spicy - Dried ginger, cinnamon bark, orange peel, rooibos, cardamom

Calming - Lavender and chamomile

Uplifting - Lemonbalm and ginger root

Have I mentioned we sell tee shirts?

My partner shreds through clothes like it’s his full-time job, so a new tee or pair of socks is always an easy bet.
